Whether it’s a pair of your favourite vintage loudspeakers, a beautiful set of floorstanders, bookshelf, in-ceiling, in-walls, outdoors – whatever, the Sonos Amp delivers. But more than just a power amplifier option for passive speakers, the Sonos Amp’s versatility extends to both input and output stages. Offering both analogue (RCA) and digital (HDMI ARC) inputs, the Sonos Amp can be connected to almost any audio source. So you can dust off those old records and drop the needle on some serious analogue tunes, connect a CD player as well as your home television all thanks to the Amp. And it’s stunning design means the Sonos Amp will make the perfect component feature for any room.
However, all things considered, the Sonos Amp is aimed squarely at the custom install and AV market as a serious multi-room streaming option for in-ceiling, in-wall, and outdoor speakers. This is Sonos for the serious Smart Home user. It can be stacked either vertically or side-by-side and is AV rack-mountable. And to show that Sonos are delivering choice to the Smart Home sound experience, they’ve retained the Connect Amp’s sub out to allow for in-ceiling or in-wall subwoofer options. Two ethernet jacks allow for hardwiring of both the amp and a secondary Sonos device, and removable thumb-screw speaker terminals mean exposed speaker wire or banana plug connections can be made.
